Donations are any money, objects, or services freely given to our organization without any expectation of the donor receiving something in return.
This income is a core part of how our organization is able to function. Financial support from the public and our guests makes up a significant portion of our operating budget, covers our operating expenses, and helps us to expand and improve our operation.
The donation of objects helps to preserve objects from destruction and can change or reinforce how we understand and teach history.
Our organization is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization in good standing with the IRS and State of Maryland. Because of this, donors who itemize their taxes can claim part or all of the value of donations as deductions on their taxes.
