We won’t always have visitors in the building. Between guests, there are tasks you can do to help out.

These aren’t obligations, but they will help to improve the visitor experience if they are done promptly.
If these tasks don’t need done but you have downtime, you are welcome to pass the time…
Whatever you decide to do, be sure you can set it down the moment guests arrive so that they can have your 100% undivided attention.
Video games, television, and phone conversations are discouraged, as these are harder to set down and can be distracting to others. Calls home are fine if you need to make one, but discussing the latest gossip from “Aunt Gabby”…maybe not the best thing to do when a visitor can walk in at any time.
When socializing with other volunteers, be sure to keep conversations appropriate.
Once guests are in the building, they should have our volunteers’ complete and undivided attention. Docents should remain near the visitors through their tour. When guests are in the building, conversations should be carefully curated among greeters as sound easily carries through our building.
