Engaging with Guests
Greet Every Guest With A Smile
Our goal is to provide all visitors with a great first impression.
Feeling welcomed and attended to can make all the difference for a visitor’s experience.
Be Respectful
Every guest should be treated with utmost respect, regardless of age, race, gender, appearance, or any other factors.
Regularly remind yourself of how an interaction or conversation might impact your opinion of the museum were you in the guest’s place.
Be Honest
Guests come to our museum to learn. Only share information you know to be true.
If you don’t know an answer, it is OK to tell the guests so. Seek out fellow volunteers or resources which may hold the answer.
Remember that being open for our guests is a primary function of our organization, and their experience will shape their opinion.
Positive experiences can be a valuable form of advertising through word-of-mouth.
A negative experience can be detrimental to gaining visitors and donors.
Be sure not to abandon visitors to figure things out on their own. Be attentive and helpful.
