The National Road Museum and Boonsboro Trolley Station are animal-free facilities.
There is a sign on our front window which you may refer to when a guest inquires about our policies.
We do welcome trained and certified medical assistance and guide dogs into our buildings.
Pets, companion animals, and emotional support or comfort animals are not approved for entry into our museum buildings. This includes animals kept in strollers or carriers. If pressured by a guest who wishes to bring an animal into the building, we can inform them that our insurance policy does not allow for any animals other than official and certified medical assistance animals.
In addition to the insurance concerns, we maintain this rule for the comfort of all of our other guests, safety of our exhibits, and sanitation of our facility. Our building is a relatively small confined space, and this can compound allergen and anxiety issues which may afflict some guests in relation to animals. There are also various liability concerns.
The only additional exception which may arise at times will be if we invite special animal guest displays for events. These animals will be expected to be trained or contained properly for such activities and will receive an exemption from the insurance clause.
