The Maryland Historic National Road Yard Sale provides individuals with the opportunity to reconnect with their past along America’s first interstate, by visiting historic sites, cultural attractions and enjoying all the resources of the US 40 scenic byway. Since 1806, the National Road has been one of trade and commerce, connecting all major ports and today you can relive that experience by traveling this historic highway in search of that must have item. Along the way enjoy great dining and shopping in quaint towns and vibrant Main Street communities of Ellicott City, Frederick, Clearspring, Cumberland and Grantsville. In addition, travelers can experience some of the popular events taking place such as the James Shaull Wagon Train Festival in Washington County http://www.nationalpikefestival.org .
The Maryland National Road Association encourages businesses, civic organizations, non-profits, churches and residents to host and stage their own yard, garage and/or side-walk sale along Maryland’s Historic National Road (US 40, Alternate 40 & MD 144). The MNRA will keep a list of known participants for those who inquire about locations of sales. Please send your name, date of sale, address, hours and other important details such as items available for sale, and parking information. Main Street businesses are encouraged to offer Maryland Picker specials during the two week period. Event participants and other general information will be available on the organization’s website at http://www.octavodesigns.com/mnra/events. There is no fee to participate.
Once again, the MNRA is pleased to partner with the Goodwill Industries of Maryland along the National Road including; Goodwill of Monocacy Valley, Goodwill of the Chesapeake and Horizon Goodwill Industries. Goodwill and MNRA encourage event participants hosting yard sales to consider donating their unsold items to their local Goodwill.
The Maryland National Road Association is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization that preserves and promotes the economic vitality, cultural, scenic and historic resources along the Maryland Historic National Road from Baltimore City to Garrett County.
