We operate both museums with the same staff and the same schedule.
November – March: Saturdays 11am – 3pm
April – October: Saturdays 10am – 4pm and the Fourth Sunday of each month 1pm – 4pm
We hope these hours will expand soon! Your time with us helps us toward that end.
To make it easier on our volunteers, we rarely ask you for more than 4 hours at a time.
During the winter months, this is easy to do with 4-hour shift per role. During the spring and summer months, however, we split the days into 3-hour shifts for each role. On Saturdays, there is a 10am – 1pm shift, and also a 1pm – 4pm shift. While this requires us to have more volunteers on our schedule, it makes it easier for many people to give their time more freely.
If you wish to stay the whole day though, it is permitted to claim both shifts – we greatly appreciate when you do so!
We use a third party program called Point to schedule our volunteers. We will be giving you an account as an approved volunteer – if we haven’t already.
Regular museum days and special tours are added to Point at least a month in advance, and volunteers can “claim” a shift at any time! The listing of days tells how many shifts for each day have already been claimed. This way, you can see when we still need the most help, and are setting your own schedule.
You can also set Point to remind you of upcoming shifts you have claimed.
