
This exhibit serves two functions: It tells the history of the trolley station building, and the property upon which our museums stand. There is a photograph of the station showing the protective shelter which once stood over the tracks on the front of the building.
Our museums are located above the Warrenfeltz Spring. Because of this spring and the neighboring stream, this end of town became the town’s industrial center.
Over the years, the land around the Trolley Station housed industries including a basket and crate factory, saw mill, grist mill, and canning factory, as well as an ice factory which was attached to the station building. Prior to the trolley station, construction had begun on a power plant on that site which was abandoned before being completed. The map at the bottom of the information panel gives an overview of the location of several of these structures in relation to what exists today.
