In addition to the business and impacts, we want guests to have an appreciation for the variety of trolleys which served the local area.

A diorama based on the area around Bethel, Maryland (north of Frederick) and depicting express freight motor #5 pulling a freight train past passenger combine trolley #171 accompanies a display of photographs which break down the different types of trolley and what each of their functions was.

Beside the diorama, an exhibit case includes a variety of artifacts from the railway. Several of the trolley parts here were salvaged from Hagerstown & Frederick #172, the official “Last Trolley” on most of the routes. This includes the bell and whistle at the bottom of the display.
QR codes in this display allow visitors to pull up a webpage on their phone with photographs of the inside of machines, photographs of other angles of objects, and both video and audio of some of the items in use.
