Museum Admission

Counting Non-Member Museum Visitors

If the guest indicates they would like to tour the museum, there are a few more steps for facilitating their tour.  Use the following as suggested dialogue for this conversation.

“I’m happy to hear that!  We are open by donation and have some suggested admission donation amounts here…”

At that point, gesture to the pricing list displayed on or near the counter with the suggested amounts as you continue.

“…however you can give more or less if you would like.  We are donation funded and your admission helps us to keep our museums open and supports our exhibits and other programs.  So how much would you like to donate today?

Even if the guest does not want to pay anything, they are still welcome to tour our museum.  Some of these visitors may choose to make a donation as they leave.  If that happens, enter it as a general donation and not as an admission donation.

No matter what amount, or lack thereof, the guest wishes to provide, the process is the same.

1. On the Point-Of-Sale screen, make sure you are on the “FREQUENTLY USED” or “ADMISSION” menu pages.
2. Press the icon that reads “Admission Donation”
3. A window will pop up on the screen where you can enter a dollar amount.  Enter the TOTAL amount that the guest wishes to give for their entire group, even if it is $0.
4. Press “Add”
5. Once the amount is entered, press the age icons for each member of the group, until the totals on the right side of the screen match the number of people in the group.
6. If the visitors wish to make any additional donation or an early gift shop purchase, it CAN be added to this transaction.
7. Press the button in the bottom right that reads “Charge $___”
8. The guest will be prompted for card payment on their screen.  If cash or check, select the corresponding amount on your screen and accept the payment.
9. All cash or check payments processed this way should go in the cash drawer, NOT the donation jar.
