We are a Smoke Free facility. This includes both museums and the grounds beginning at the inner edge of the public sidewalk on all sides of our property.
Smoking of any tobacco or marijuana product, or the use of any vaping device, is strictly prohibited on our property. Smoking and vaping is also prohibited in Shafer Memorial Park.
This applies to guests and volunteers alike.
Smoking breaks are strongly discouraged, but it is understood that some individuals may require the consumption of one cigarette during a volunteer period.
If you must take a smoke break while volunteering, we ask that you notify your fellow volunteer(s) and then temporarily leave the property, and that you take precautions to prevent lingering related odors which may impact our guests’ experience when you return.
If it is not possible for you to leave the property, we require that you take your break in a location outside, away from the buildings and outside of the public eye (i.e. behind the buildings).
Cigarettes must be properly disposed of outdoors in a non-flammable waste container. Cigarettes and similar products of any kind, whether unused or used, may not be brought into the museum for any reason.
